Overview: Record Vinyl Albums and Cassette Tapes to your PC
AIPL Singulator is a Microsoft Windows software song, voice or LP recorder. It transfers any analog audio to your computer in CD or higher quality audio. It will rip vinyl, a 45 single or 78 RPM album, cassette tape, DAT, Internet streaming audio, or any analog source, to your PC as WAV audio files. It automatically separates songs in real time and stops when finished.
For music collectors, Singulator is a time-saving tool to rip vinyl albums and cassette tapes to their PC, such that the music can be transferred to CDs and portable music players as individual songs. For musicians, Singulator is a time-saving tool to transfer sessions recorded on tape (DAT or reel-to-reel) to their PC for digital editing or podcasting. Others can use it to transfer voice or capture streaming audio onto their PC.
AIPL Singulator is different than other album recorders:
- Saves Time - Separates songs while recording and automatically stops when done
- Simple - Easy to use with automatic recording setup and great software Help
- Support - Top notch technical support where users talk with programmers (e.g. FAQs)
- Longevity - On the market for 8 years, thus 8 years of improvements
Singulator records the audio to your Windows PC as WAV files, with user defined sampling of 11-to-48 kHz and 16 bit. You can then use other products for noise reduction, to copy the songs to MP3, Windows Media Audio (WMA), or AAC for Apple iTunes, iPod or Podcasting, or to burn the songs to a recordable CD. With Singulator, your CD-R will have separate tracks for each song.
AIPL sound separation algorithm is based upon a theoretical and experimental analysis of old analog recordings, and the user interface is designed for maximum flexibility with VU meters and 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling rates. Download the software to try FREE (has voiceover), and buy for $29.99.
Install, Try, Buy and Activate
First download AIPL Singulator - the file will be saved to your computer. Remember where you saved the file AIPLSingulatorSetupv15.exe, and double-click on the file to install the software.
Then, when you first run the program, the Demoware Notification window appears. You can evaluate the fully functional program forever (but it has a voiceover) by selecting the Continue button, or you can activate the program by selecting the Register button.
After buying AIPL Singulator, the activation (a.k.a. registration) information is emailed to you. After entering this information in the Register window (which appears when you select the Register button), you instantly convert the downloaded program to a activated version that you can use forever.
We chose this model so you could fully evaluate our products, and we could pass the savings on eliminating distribution and packaging costs on to you (as well as saving trees)! Remember to save downloaded file (Single.exe) and activation information to reinstall if your computer crashes, or if you decide to transfer Singulator to a new computer.
Quick Tutorial: LP Recorder
This section provides a quick tutorial. Detailed usage of AIPL Singulator is available in the software’s help, as well as recording setup and optimization on our web site.
You can begin simply by clicking on the record button and using the default settings.
Alternatively, you can begin by choosing the type of audio you are recording using presets. Optionally, you can select the customize button and design your own settings to separate your audio. Next, you select a base file name by clicking on the New button, or use the default, My Music/Song.wav (or Desktop/Song.wav if My Music does not exist). The program will then save the singles by adding a 01, 02, 03, etc. to the end of the base file name, in front of the .wav extension. Then, you click the record button. If any files will be overwritten, Singulator will warn you. If it’s okay to overwrite these files, select YES, and Singulator will start recording. If not, select NO and Singulator will open a file browse window so you can enter a new a new base file name.
While automatically separating your analog audio, Singulator displays the filename, recording level, clipping, song length, and total time information. There should not be too many clipped points, or you will hear clicks. If there are too many clipped points or the recording is too quiet, you can change the recording levels. When the audio is done, Singulator will automatically stop. If you have troubles with song splitting, please read optimize settings.
When finished, you may want to open each audio file before burning your CD or compressing them to MP3s (or other formats) to make sure the songs were properly separated. Most importantly, Singulator does not delete any recorded audio. Thus, if it accidentally separates one song to several files, you can recombine the files, or split one file with two songs. Other audio software programs (listed on our Audio Links web page) have options to append or separate a file. Some songs are impossible to separate because there is no gap between them. In other words, the recording fades from one song to the next, like in some psychedelic rock.
